Number of Malaysian tourist to Japan increased by 11.6 times to 1100 in April

【Kuala Lumpur= Malaysia BIZ Navi】 Japan National Tourism Organization(JNTO)'s statistics estimated the number of Malaysia tourists visiting Japan in April 2020 to be 1100, an increase by 11.6 times from 2020's numbers of 95, and 1.8 times to the previous month's numbers of 600.
According to JNTO, Malaysia is subject to the Japanese government's strengtening of quarantine (incspections etc), and suspension of visa validty due to the outbreak of Covid-19. Furthermore, Malaysians entering Japan would have to show proof of vaccination through vaccine certificate. Direct flights to Japan in May 2022 will continue to be suspended or reduced extensively.
The number of Malaysian visitors to Japan from January to April was at 2,000, 2.9 times that of the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors to the country from around the world in April increased by 12.8 times compared to the same period last year, at 139,500 visitors. Compared to March 2020, it is the first time in more than 2 years that the numbers have reached more than 100,000. In the first four months of the year, the number of visitors increased by 3.1 times to 240,100 visitors.
JNTO conveyed that the Japanese government has announced a policy in reviewing its border contol in stages, and that it will be neccesary to pay close attention to each country's infection situation and numbers, changes in immigration regulations, and on the Ukraine situation.
