Based on latest SOP, 48-hour PCR from departure is no longer required upon arrival into the country

【Kuala Lumpur=Malaysia BIZ Navi】 Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin announces on the 27th the latest SOP to be implemented starting May 1st.

The latest SOP has significantly eased up compared to previous Covid restrictions in fields of ▽Use of mask▽Social distance ▽"MySejahtera"Check in▽Quarantine procedure of positive cases ▽travellers from abroad 。As of May 15, restrictions on economic activities that had previously been prohibited by the "Negative List" will be removed.
Masks are still required to be worn in office buildings, shopping malls, elevators, public transportations (bus, subway, car sharing service), and classrooms. However masks are not required during meals, independent trainings, speeches and performances on stage.

Meanwhile, masks are optional for outdoor settings such as outdoor residences and office setting, bus stops, open spaces, outdoor walkways and bridges. Masks are encouraged for outdoor crowded areas.
Check in is no longer required on the "MySejahtera" app. Everyone is allowed entry regardless of vaccination status other than "high risk" individuals are those issued Home Surveillance Order (HSO) status.
As for quarantine rules, positive cases are required to self quarantine for 7 days but allowed to reduce quarantine period upon negative RTK-Ag test on the 4th day.

For travelers abroad entering Malaysia, travellers only need to fill up a "Traveler's Card" application on "MySejahtera" app and proof of negative RT-PCR test within 48 hours prior to departure and negative RTK-Ag test within 24 hours upon arrival is no longer required any long for those who have complete vaccination status and children under 12 years old. The 5 days quarantine upon arrival. The 5-day post-arrival quarantine will be required only for incomplete vaccination and unvaccinated individuals. In addition, the requirement for travel insurance, which was previously required of all entrants, will no longer be required as well.
