Introduction

Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) is back with its annual conference, I-Nation. The event was held on 29-30th November 2022 at Auditorium HIVE 5, MRANTI Park. MRANTI is Malaysia's government-linked accelerator, which supports the growth of smart manufacturing, biotech, agri-tech, smart city, green tech and technology clusters within the vast 4IR innovation hub in Kuala Lumpur. This year’s theme is “Global Reset: Tech for Impact” with focus on technology, ESG (Environment, Social and Governance), sustainability and impact based on the 4IR (4th Industrial Revolution) foundational technologies and tech areas adopted under MRANTI.

Events highlights

Government & Innovation

Discussions took place between MRANTI group CEO, Dzuleira Abu Bakar, British and Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia and the German Ambassador to Malaysia on how innovations have been adopted in government aids and contributed in economic progress.

Introduction of Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM)

An introduction of a voluntary carbon market (VCM) in Malaysia was held to discuss on climate change in the country. Its goal is to demonstrate how such innovation enables businesses to operate in an environmentally friendly manner. It also addresses concerns and innovation roles in climate change in tackling pressing matters such as recent floods in the country.

Women in tech

Key take aways from this discussion is the need for a change of mindset within the nation, and importance of encouraging entrepreneurial ecosystems and education in encouraging women’s involvement in technology.

Digitalizing health

Another area of discussion covers digitalizing healthcare. Digital healthcare from cutting-edge technology with equitable support, sustainable healthcare systems, and universal access can radically alter how people live. Other topics of concern in healthcare addressed the importance of good governance in achieving the above.

Education

Discussions related to education focused on ways to overcome mismatched skills between education and industries, through educational institution’s innovative potential and university-industry relationships.

Food security

Food security can be accomplished through food technology to improve crop varieties, increase agricultural operations efficiency, generate high productivity, and increase income generation.
